Launching a Breakthrough in Wearable Tech

Engagement: Executive leadership engagement. David Sperry (CCO @ Nebulous) served as VP of Brand & Marketing during the launch and growth phase.

Challenge: Launch a premium smart ring in a market dominated by wrist-based wearables. Define a new category, establish credibility at retail, and bring a breakthrough form factor to market.

Approach: As VP of Brand and Marketing, David Sperry (CCO @ Nebulous) partnered with the creative team that later formed Nebulous and partners to build the brand, go-to-market strategy, and customer experience, reframing fitness tracking around meaningful activity rather than passive step counting. A cohesive brand system spanning digital, retail, packaging, and video supported a national launch and long-term growth.

Brand Strategy

The Motiv brand strategy was crafted around seamless “always on” wearability. Our goal was to design a premium lifestyle brand where wellness and fashion intertwine, with every detail designed to feel as good as it functions.

Visual Identity

Motiv’s visual identity strikes a balance between premium luxury, clean minimalism, and contemporary fashion, appealing to a style-conscious audience who value high quality and sophisticated design.

Website Design

The website design combines user-friendliness and engagement, featuring a striking aesthetic and interactive elements that highlight the brand, lifestyle, and technology, positioning it as the luxury wearable for active users and early-adopters. Motiv’s website design  won a Webby Award for advertising & media for products and services.

Packaging Design

Motiv Ring’s packaging offered an elevated experience that mirrored the brand’s promise of premium technology and sophisticated design, further strengthening the brand identity and enhancing the customer journey.

Video Production

Motiv’s videos combined premium cinematic visuals with minimalist treatments, all wrapped in the allure of bold fashion, captivating viewers and positioning the ring as the desirable luxury wearable.
